Despite massive public backlash, politicians in the South Dakota Senate are still attempting to use “emergency powers” to repeal IM-22, a statewide Anti-Corruption Act passed by voters less than three months ago.
With the Senate’s repeal vote scheduled for Wednesday, we need hundreds of South Dakotans to rally at the Capitol and pack the Senate to demand that our elected officials #RespectOurVote.
Can we count on you to join us at 1:30 pm in Pierre on Wednesday, February 1? Transportation is available for students, seniors, and others who need a lift to the rally. RSVP now to help our organizers get an accurate headcount and arrange transportation for those who need it.
Our grassroots campaign to save the Anti-Corruption Act is already working. These politicians don't like the scrutiny, and they don't like the media attention. The repeal vote has already been delayed thanks to massive public backlash, but only until Wednesday.
Politicians are hoping that rescheduling this vote means we'll lose steam. That the media will go away so they can still gut the Anti-Corruption Act, but avoid a national outcry. It’s up to us to show them that fundamental American values like accepting election results and respecting the will of the people will survive in America.
